Kenya...

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others -Gandhi

So.....
I am heading off to Kenya in a few days

for our humanitarian mission with
HART

Yes, I am trekking alone without my Mr. Kris and I will not go into details for
I nearly cry thinking of being away from him for two long, lonely weeks!

We have so much planned this year,
been very busy and worked oh so hard.
I am very excited for everything to fall into place and...
finally arrive in
KAKAMEGA KENYA

There are around 24 people heading out this year,
consisting of Doctor's, nurses,
anesthesiologists, scrubs and non medical individuals.

I am helping with outreach:
ThE NoN-MeDiCaL GaLs
we have a team of 6 women all
AmAzInG & BeAuTiFuL InSiDe AnD OuT!

We will be teaching small informal classes for villagers for the purpose to
  • Educate
  • Improve
  • Bring health
  • Awareness
  • Opportunity
  • Change their life!
On our schedule of classes in the
ViLLaGe ChUrCh
will be the following:

  • Family Planning -ways to prevent pregnancy without contraceptives
  • Breast feeding instruction -many women do not know how or understand breastfeeding and many children starve.
  • Burn safety and care-most Kenyans cook on open fire stoves. Last year we saw an alarming amount for child burns.
  • Nutrition-educating the nutritionist as well as all in the village healthy lifestyle and needs of their bodies to be strong.
  • Dental hygiene-care for their teeth and education on food choices to take care of them.
  • Education-ways to stimulate a child's senses with the activities we have planned, games, manuals and discussions. We are bringing many items to help improve their resources.

Just for the OuTrEaCh TeAm
are bringing along the following
WhIcH

Maley Moo comes for the weekend....

I pretty much felt like I was playing house
while the cutest little stink came to hang with us...

I think Mark and McKayla would have liked to have taken Maley along with them
to Midway,
but I begged and begged for them to leave her
and I am sooooo glad they did!

I love nakey Moo!
